Questions & Answers

Most commercial construction, custom residential, and industrial projects need architectural plans. However, not every project that we undertake requires architectural plans. If your project needs plans, we will help find the perfect architect for your project, or we are happy to an architect of your choosing.

Most building projects require a permit. Sometimes they require multiple permits from different levels of Government. Those may include permits from city, county, state, and federal agencies. If your project requires a permit, you can expect that Murphy Construction will fill out the permit application, review it with you, and file it for you. Once approved you will need to pay the permit fees. As inspections occur, Murphy Construction will work with the inspectors to schedule inspections and to walk through the inspection.

This is a question that almost everyone asks. In the design phase of the project, it is difficult to provide an exact answer. Once the plans are drawn up, the project must be priced out based on the supplies that the plan requires. Prices of supplies also fluctuate making it difficult to price projects. Some projects cost more because they need site work, such as installation of utilities, or because building codes have changed, and you have to upgrade water and sewage lines as part of your project. Those are all costs that must be considered before the project begins. At the start of the project, you will understand how much your project will cost, where you can expect prices to change, etc. We are always here to help answer questions.

If you want the project changed, Murphy Construction will work with you to handle all changes. It is our job to inform you of additional costs and additional time that each change will make. Changes may require new permitting, and also the deconstruction of work already completed. It is always our goal that you be 100 percent happy with the project when it is finished. Changes will be covered by an addendum to our contract so that both parties understand exactly the scope of change that is to occur.

When possible, Murphy Construction prefers to use green and sustainable building materials. The details depend on each project on which we work, the cost of the materials and the wishes of the property owner.

Murphy Construction uses both employees and sub-contractors. We work with sub-contractors that are highly skilled, screened, and dependable. These are workers whom we know and have worked with in the past. Each sub-contractor with whom we work shares the save value and principles to quality that Murphy Construction has.
